Watchman relies on cellular or wired internet connectivity to communicate with TrueCloud Connect, supporting cloud-based access control functions including calling, video transmission, and system synchronization. If connectivity is temporarily lost, local access codes stored at the keypad continue to work, and cameras capture still photos on entry events. Video may be stored locally on the camera. App calls and notifications resume once service returns.
With the addition of CellGate’s new SurePath failover solution to the Watchman® W482 and WXL2 wired internet models, if a property’s internet goes down, the system switches automatically to utilizing a cellular LTE network for connectivity – thus eliminating any downtime or the need for offline operation.
Watchman can be configured over a wired internet connection and supports cellular access control (LTE) where a wired internet connection is not feasible or practical. That’s why we say our Total Property Security Access is “Wireless where you need it, and wired where you have it.” CellGate never utilizes WiFi in its solutions, as WiFi is not reliable enough for security applications.
