Halo Reader FAQs

What types of credentials does the Halo Reader support?
The Halo Reader supports multiple credential types, including Bluetooth mobile access via the CellGate app, encrypted DESFire® EV3 credentials, and traditional key cards or fobs. This flexibility allows properties to accommodate a wide range of users.
Does the Halo Reader support visitor access like QR codes or PINs?
No. The Halo Reader is designed specifically for resident and employee access. For visitor management features like QR Code or PIN-based Visitor Passes, CellGate recommends pairing with an Infinity Reader.
Can the Halo Reader work with my existing access control system?
Yes. The Halo Reader is compatible with most systems that use standard 26-bit Wiegand protocols, making it easy to upgrade without replacing your entire infrastructure.
Do Halo Readers work with any brand of controller?
No. Halo Readers are compatible only with CellGate controllers — Entría™, OmniPoint®, or Watchman®.
What happens if the network goes down — will the Halo Reader still work?
Non-restricted local credentials downloaded to the device will work if the network goes offline. Restricted credentials will not work because they require cloud validation and an online network.
