PIN codes are a type of Access Credential in the CellGate TrueCloud Connect™ portal. They function as secure Access Passes you can assign to visitors, staff, and service providers to grant temporary access to your property. This guide will walk you through the steps to enable, create, and manage these codes.

Types of PIN Codes

Temporary Event PINs

These PINs allow access for multiple people during a set time window. Ideal for events or gatherings, they provide controlled entry for a defined period.

Single-Use PINs

Single-use PINs are designed for one-time entry, expiring after their initial use. These are perfect for individual visitors or deliveries, ensuring controlled access.

Enabling PIN Codes

Before using PIN-based Access Credentials, ensure they are enabled at the account level. Only administrators can enable these features. If you are unsure whether PIN codes are enabled on your account, contact the CellGate support team.

Creating and Managing PIN Codes

Creating Temporary Event PINs
  1. In TrueCloud Connect™, navigate to the top bar, select “Users”, and then choose “Access Passes” (this section may still be labeled “Virtual Keys” in some portals) from the dropdown.
  2. Choose the PIN code type and set parameters such as valid date range, allowable times, entry point, and access restrictions.
  3. Share the PIN Access Pass via email or phone by clicking the share icon and entering the recipient’s details.
Creating Single-Use PINs
  1. Follow the same process as Temporary Event PINs from the Access Passes / Virtual Keys section.
  2. Specify the valid dates, times, and entry points for a one-time entry PIN.
Managing PIN Codes

All current PIN codes can be viewed under the “Access Passes” (formerly “Virtual Keys”) section of the “Users” tab. From here, you can add new PINs, edit existing ones, and deactivate PINs as needed.

Group-Specific PIN Codes

To enable PIN codes for specific groups, navigate to the “Groups” tab, select a group, and configure the Access Credential settings (this may still appear as “Virtual Key settings” in some portals). Each user must be in a group with PIN codes enabled and be in a call group with app access.

Auditing PIN Code Usage

To monitor and audit PIN code usage, filter the activity logs by Access Passes / Access Credentials (PINs). This allows you to see all PIN-related access actions across the system.

Visitor Instructions

Visitors can use their PIN codes by going to the access point’s keypad, tapping “Access Code”, entering their PIN, and tapping “Enter” to gain entry.

Conclusion

PIN codes offer a flexible and secure way to manage temporary visitor access in the CellGate TrueCloud Connect™ portal as part of your overall Access Credentials strategy. For any questions or further assistance, contact the dedicated CellGate support team.
