The Challenge: An Apartment Community with Attached Parking Garage Access & Outdoor Pool

  • Class A rated apartments with 250–290 residents on a 400 meter by 300 meter property
  • Two primary resident buildings, four stories each, with a four-story connected parking garage in between the two buildings
  • Line of sight not possible
  • Pool in the center of the complex had two entrances that needed access control
  • Concrete parking garages made a wired solution difficult to install
  • Wanted a centralized point of administrative control in order to customize resident credentials, and to view historical logs of system use by resident. Current system had no historical logs, and residents were all set up with the same code so there was no visibility if problems arose.

An OmniPoint solution solved all of these challenges.

OmniPoint FAQ

What is OmniPoint and how does it work?
OmniPoint is a wireless multi-point access control solution. A Gateway connects to the TrueCloud Connect platform by wired internet or cellular LTE and communicates with Entry Point Modules (EPMs) over LoRa. One Gateway supports up to 50 entry points with no long-distance data wiring. EPMs store access credentials locally so authorized access continues if connectivity is interrupted.
What credentials does OmniPoint support?
OmniPoint works with any standard 26-bit Wiegand device—including compatible card readers, keypads, and gate operators. Use your preferred reader hardware and access credentials that meet your site requirements.
How far can OmniPoint reach?
With a high-gain LoRa antenna, OmniPoint covers up to approximately one mile—and line of sight is not required. This makes it well suited for large or complex properties where running data wiring is impractical.
Can OmniPoint operate during internet outages or power loss?
During connectivity outages, EPMs store access credentials locally so authorized personnel can still gain entry. When the connection returns, changes and events sync automatically to TrueCloud Connect. Power is still required at the lock and controller—OmniPoint uses the existing 12V DC or 24V AC power at the entry point.
What are the advantages of wireless over wired access control?
Wireless eliminates trenching and long-distance data wiring, removes the need for individual control panels at each building, and does not require wired internet at every entry point. The result is a simpler, lower-cost installation with faster deployment—particularly valuable on large or distributed properties.
Is OmniPoint secure?
OmniPoint is administered centrally in the TrueCloud Connect platform with role-based access controls. It supports standard 26-bit Wiegand devices, so you can deploy secure credential technologies supported by your chosen readers—including encrypted smart-card and mobile access credentials on compatible CG Readers & Credentials.
How does OmniPoint integrate with CellGate's other solutions?
OmniPoint extends wireless access to areas that are difficult or costly to wire, complementing the full CellGate ecosystem. Watchman anchors high-traffic entry points with live video telephone entry (video intercom) and access control. Entría secures additional doors, gates, and elevators. CG Readers & Credentials can be added to compatible entry points—and all CellGate solutions are managed through a single TrueCloud Connect login.
How do I purchase OmniPoint and arrange installation?
OmniPoint solutions are sold through CellGate's professional dealer network. A dealer will assess your property, install the correct hardware, and activate your TrueCloud Connect service. Contact us at (855) 694-2837 if you need assistance finding a dealer in your area.
