A note on naming. Older portal screens label this feature Virtual Keys. That term is retired; CellGate now calls these QR or PIN Code credentials Visitor Passes / Access Credentials. The steps work exactly as described.
What this video covers
Enable at the account level first
Before anyone can issue a PIN Access Pass, PINs must be enabled at the account level, and only administrators can do that. If you are unsure whether they are on, contact the CellGate support team rather than guessing. This is the switch everything else depends on.
1) Turn PINs on per group
In the TrueCloud Connect platform, open the Groups tab, select a group, and configure its Access Credential settings (older portals may still label this “Virtual Key settings”). Each user must be in a group with PIN codes enabled and in a call group with app access before their PINs will work.
2) Create a PIN Access Pass
In the top bar, select Users, then Access Passes (may still read “Virtual Keys” in some portals). From there you create the PIN pass: a Temporary PIN allows multiple people during a set window, ideal for an event; a Single-Use PIN expires after one entry, ideal for a delivery or individual visitor. The visitor uses it at the keypad by tapping Access Code, entering the PIN, and tapping Enter.
3) Audit PIN usage
To monitor PIN activity, open the activity log and filter by Access Passes / Access Credentials (PINs). That surfaces every PIN-related access action across the system, which is what turns a question about who came in into a lookup rather than a guess. Residents can also issue PIN passes from the app; see creating a PIN Single-Use pass.
