Why a single-use PIN suits deliveries
A delivery driver needs to get in once, and you often will not be home when they do. A single-use PIN Visitor Pass is built for exactly that: it needs no smartphone or app on the driver’s side, works once, and then expires, so nothing lingers behind to be reused. It is the secure alternative to leaving a gate code in the delivery notes.
1) Create the single-use PIN pass
- Open the CellGate app and tap the menu icon in the top left.
- Select Access Credentials, then Visitor Passes.
- Make sure you are on the PIN Code Visitor Pass tab, not the QR tab.
- Tap Create Visitor Pass, then choose PIN Single-Use Visitor Pass.
- Name the pass, set when it begins (up to a 24-hour window), and press Save.
- Select which gate or gates the PIN works at, tap OK, then Save.
- When prompted, tap Share and send the pass to yourself by text or email.
2) Paste it into your delivery order
This is the part that makes it effortless. When you place your delivery order, copy the five-digit single-use PIN from the message you sent yourself and paste it into the delivery instructions field. Add your phone number too, so the driver can reach you if they have any trouble. Tell them to enter the PIN at the entry point.
3) What the driver does at the gate
When the driver arrives, they go to the keypad at the entry point, enter the five-digit PIN, and wait for the gate or door to open. The pass expires immediately after that one use, and it also expires automatically at the end of the time window you set, so there is no code left active afterward.
