Installing and Configuring an EPM with the CG Installer Control App: Register, Set Times, and Test Every Function

Apr 20, 2026  |  Support Resource, OmniPoint

This walks the full setup of an OmniPoint Entry Point Module (EPM) in the CG Installer Control App: log in, register the EPM by scanning its barcode, set the trigger and re-arm times, push the settings, and test the relay, door status, Wiegand reading, and request to exit.

Who this is for. Installers and dealers setting up an OmniPoint Entry Point Module (EPM) with the CG Installer Control App. The EPM is one of the key components in an OmniPoint door access system; work through these steps in order for a clean setup.

Step 1 & 2: Log in and start the install

  1. Log into the CG Installer Control App with the login and password provided to you.
  2. Open the menu on the left and choose Install a Product, then select OmniPoint EPM.

Step 3: Select the correct property and location

If you install OmniPoint on more than one property, choose the correct property before Install a Product. On the installation-location screen, pick the entry point that was named during account onboarding, for example, the pool gate if that is the first EPM going in.

If EPM locations were not set during onboarding, the property manager can set them in their TrueCloud Connect account, or with help from Gold Key Service.

Step 4: Register the EPM

When the app asks you to register the EPM, tap Scan Node Barcode and allow camera access. Hold the EPM on its side and scan its QR code to assign it to that location. A message confirms a successful registration.

Step 5: Configure, test, and confirm the heartbeat

Tap Configure and Test. Confirm the green light on the EPM is blinking slowly, about once a second: tap Yes if it is, or No to jump to troubleshooting.

Each EPM takes about a minute to register. You will see the red and green lights blinking until it settles into a steady green heartbeat, that steady green is your signal it is ready.

Step 6 & 7: Set trigger and re-arm times

With the EPM registered, tap Set Trigger Times and set, in seconds:

  • Relay time — how long the gate or door stays open when activated.
  • Wiegand time — how long it stays active for a Wiegand-based transaction.
  • Request-to-exit time — how long it stays open after a request to exit.

Tap Save, then set Re-arm Times:

  • Re-arm Wiegand time — seconds the device ignores the same code being reused.
  • Input one time — how often input one switches states and is logged.
  • Input two time — the same, for input two.

Tap Save.

Step 8: Push changes to the device

Tap Push Changes to Device at the bottom to save your settings to the EPM. If you get a push error, power cycle the EPM, wait for the green heartbeat again, then tap Proceed.

Step 9 to 11: Test every function

With settings pushed, run the EPM through each test:

  • Relay: tap Send Command to open a closed gate or door. Confirm it opened and tap Yes.
  • Door status: open and close the door and confirm the app shows Opened or Closed to match. Unknown means the status sensor is not reporting. To skip status, tap Skip, then Yes.
  • Wiegand: scan an RFID card or enter a code at the entrance and confirm it shows as incoming data. A blank or wrong code usually means a wiring problem, most often the D0 and D1 wires reversed.
  • Request to exit: when prompted, tap Yes, then open and close the door to confirm the status matches. Unknown means the request to exit did not work and the EPM is not reporting.

When every function is tested, the app shows “Great, installation setup completed.” Install another device, or tap Done to return to the dashboard. You can revisit any EPM later to retest or change settings: choose the property, then the EPM location, to reach its main function screen. To wire an EPM before this, see how to wire an EPM; for the full sequence, see OmniPoint installation day.
