The hardware
When a visitor presses the call button, the Watchman W410 dials up to nine numbers across three tiers. Whoever answers can speak with the visitor and grant access from that call. A keypad handles residents and staff who carry a code, and an integrated camera captures a photo of each access attempt.
An expansion port accepts additional keypads, 26-bit Wiegand card readers, or wireless remotes. That is what makes the unit workable at a commercial site rather than only at a single driveway.
The CellGate app
The CellGate app puts the gate in your pocket. Open it, hold it open, close it, or take a picture on demand. You can also issue Visitor Passes for guests and set hold-open schedules for the hours when traffic justifies leaving the gate open.
The TrueCloud Connect platform
The TrueCloud Connect platform, hosted by Microsoft Azure, manages the whole system. It carries everything the CellGate app does and adds custom notifications plus a time-stamped record of every gate transaction. On a rate plan that supports photos, each of those records can include the image of the visitor.
Where the Watchman W410 fits
The Watchman W410 answers the case that comes up most often: one gate, a short list of phone numbers, and a clear record of who came and went. It does that at the lowest price in the Watchman line.
Properties that need a resident directory, or live video telephone entry (video intercom) rather than still photos, belong further up the line. For straightforward gate control, this is the unit.
